Hochspannungsanwendungen erfordern spezialisierte und stabile Materialien für die Isolierung. Hohe Spannungen können sowohl den gesamten Schaltkreis als auch die Sicherheit der Benutzer und/oder Bediener gefährden. Electric vehicles (EVs) require high voltages, high currents, and therefore excellent high voltage electrical insulation. The voltage in earlier versions was 48 V, but as more power and faster charging are required, the voltages being discussed can reach 500 V and more in some vehicles, such as sports cars and certain Tesla models. Electric vehicles and their chassis must be carefully designed to protect the driver and passengers from high voltage components and systems. Mica insulation is commonly used to insulate the chassis, battery compartment, and charging components to enhance user safety and ensure that vehicles meet vital safety requirements and standards. Mica is also used with other products as thermal insulation around the battery pack and between cells to help reduce thermal leakage.
High Voltage Applications: Electric Transformers.
- • Winding insulation: Mica is used between the windings of transformer coils.
- • Insulating barriers: Used to separate the primary and secondary windings or to insulate the core from the windings.
- • Slot liners: Insulation of the slots in the transformer core where the windings are placed.
- • Coils: Mica is used to insulate the ends of transformer coils where the windings terminate. This prevents the windings from coming into contact with each other or with the transformer casing.
- • Gaskets and seals: Used in transformers to provide electrical insulation and prevent the entry of moisture, dust, and other contaminants.
- • Flexible mica sheets: Used for adaptable insulation around irregularly shaped components or where flexibility is required.
